Netball For Good’s work

supports and extends the playing lives of all netballers

Complimenting existing registered England Netball offers.

Netball for Good has grown from a desire to use my experiences to help others find a place to belong whilst they navigate finding or returning to a netball court.

Kat’s Story

When I found netball, I found somewhere where I felt I fit.

I found the people I connected with, I felt valued and I felt celebrated for the things I brought to the team both on court and off the court. When I moved to new places, netball was the things that helped me find new friends and settle.  Netball made me feel good in my body and about myself.

Netball has been a huge part of my life since I was 14 years old. I trained to become a Level 2 netball coach, a C Award Umpire and a Walking Netball Host. Professionally I have worked with and for social netball leagues and for England Netball.

However, my relationship with netball changed when I suffered my first major injury; a broken ankle in 2015.

Injuries have changed how I can interact with netball and the netball community. I have experienced all the pain, frustration and loss of identity that comes with being unable to participate in your sport. I have also experienced the grinding slog of doing physical rehabilitation and the frustration of almost but not quite returning to the netball court - with long Covid adding new hurdles to navigate along the way.

I would still describe myself as a netballer but for the last 6 years I haven’t felt like I fit or belonged within the sport.

Following a setback is exactly the time when you need to find people to connect with, when you need to feel valued and celebrated and to feel good in your body once again.

Walking Netball is a modified version of netball.

With no running or jumping, anyone can play regardless of age or fitness level.

Netball for Good provides:

  • Safe and supportive spaces for you to return to court at your own speed

  • Competitive outlets to safely compete with yourself and others in controlled environments.

  • Emotional support and understanding.

  • Celebration of progress and successes no matter how small they may feel.

We’re here when you need a win!
